WHAT IS BACANORA?

Bacanora is an agave-distilled spirit whose Denomination of Origin confines its production to the northwestern state of Sonora and requires 100% Agave Pacífica, a variety that grows in the mountains of the Sonoran Desert.

This singular origin gives bacanora its own character and sets it apart from other agave-distilled spirits such as tequila and mezcal.

TASTING NOTES

Casa Fierro Bacanora Blanco offers a smooth, lightly-smoked flavour with hints of chocolate, caramel and a herbal aftertaste.

A TRUE EXPRESSION OF SONORA’S HERITAGE

THE ORIGIN

Casa Fierro Bacanora’s story is a paradox shaped by Sonora’s history. In 1915, a decades-long prohibition on bacanora was imposed, and General Garcíagreat-grandfather to one of our founders—was responsible for enforcing the ban. Meanwhile, families across the region continued producing the spirit in secret, determined to protect their traditions.

Generations later, that history has come full circle. Casa Fierro was founded in 2023 by two friends who wished to honor Sonora, its wild agaves, and the people who safeguarded bacanora through decades of uncertainty. Having once survived in silence, this spirit is now shared with pride.

Casa Fierro is a tribute to resilience, friendship, and tradition that endured because it is worth preserving.
